Hello and welcome to Jay’s Game Reviews! Today I am reviewing Shawn Hitchcock‘s Indie Horror game Pacify.

Pacify 1Pacify sets the player in a haunted house facing off against a ghost child. Players must use dolls to “Pacify” the ghost while collecting the keys to progress through the houses dark halls. Players will be able to find files along the way which add pieces of the story and paint the picture of dark arts.

  • Pacify 2Scary. This game really surprised me and had me genuinely scared as I played. There was a continual feeling of looming death. I had moments when I was terrified to turn my flashlight on, knowing that the ghost would be there when I did. This feeling of dread was done very well, hats of to the developer here!
  • Claustrophobic. The developer does not hesitate to use the narrow passages and cluttered rooms to make the player feel claustrophobic. I felt trapped every time that I entered a room and found myself searching for a back door to escape through if the ghost suddenly followed me in.
  • Audio. The audio cues of the ghost laughing/screeching let the player know whether it is pacified or not, which is great. Creepy and great…

  • Pacify 3Lack of instruction. I found myself able to pacify the ghost, but unable to figure out how to burn the “Marked Dolls”. While I’m sure with a bit more exploration I could figure it out, the frustration of not knowing turned me off from the game a little. I’m certain however that once I figured it out, that I would really enjoy the game and its spookiness!

Pacify is a great game to play when you’re alone and ion the dark. If you are a fan of horror as I am, this if one that you should pick up for sure! It has a nice spooky atmosphere and will leave you feeling like there is something in the room behind you just waiting to bite!

Does this weeks game sound fun to you? You can pick up Pacify for yourself on Steam or and tame the ghost too.

I Rate this game 90 out of 100

  1. I’m amazed, I have to admit. Seldom do I come across a blog that’s equally educative and amusing, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem is something too few people are speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy I stumbled across this during my hunt for something regarding this.
